Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American voice actor, director producer and vocalist. A beautiful and smart actress, she's an inspiration to numerous Asian actors who want to make it big in Hollywood. An early string of success performances in popular TV series made her popular for her role in the show on Ally McBeal, where she was Ling Woo. The fame she gained from the show was translated into films roles like Shanghai Noon or Charlie's Angels. She then delivered a superlative performance as Japanese criminal O-Ren Ishii in QT's Kill Bill Volume 1. Around this same time, she also starred in box-office failures including Rise: Blood Hunter. For animated films such as Kung Fu Panda, Tinker Bell and others she voiced prominent characters. Mia Mason, in Cashmere Mafia as well as other smaller-screen characters, failed to achieve any kind of success. Southland was a highly acclaimed police drama that Liu starred regularly and allowed her to be a famous as an as an actress. Liu selects her roles carefully so that she doesn't become a typecast character in such a competitive field. Liu has accepted her Chinese roots but she doesn't allow it to restrict her creativity.
