Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was raised in Barcelona. Her diverse musical style has earned her the label of "atypical pop star". She was attracted by Spanish folk music when she was just 13 years old. She was a musicologist at the Catalonia College of Music and also performed at weddings. Reimagining flamenco in a new way by mixing it with pop and hip hop music, the album produced the hit singles "Malamente" and "Pienso in your Mira", which caught the attention of the Spanish general public, and then were released to wide reviews. El Mal Querer was the first to bring Rosalia into the international music stage. [12][13] Rosalia has explored the urbano genre with her releases in 2019 "Con Altura" and "Yo Ti x Tu x Mi", having global success. The third studio album she released, Motomami (2022) provided reggaeton with a new experimental sound, departing from its previous flamenco style. With the singles "La Fama"" and "Saoko", the album received a worldwide acclaim and was named the best-reviewed album of the year by Metacritic. Rosalia has had a record of ten top-ten songs throughout her career in her home country. This is the highest number for an artist from that area. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year awards) and four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been awarded to Rosalia. She also was awarded two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard presented her with the Rising Star Award, in 2019, for "changing the current sound of mainstream music with her distinctive flamenco-infused pop". 18 years ago, she is also the first Latino-singing group to be nominated for Best New Artist at Grammys. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She is the eldest of four children born to Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who runs a small metalworking business. Jose Manuel Vila, her father, was born in Cudillero. They divorced in the year 2019. Her 23-year-old older sister, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) who collaborates with Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia was attracted to performing arts from an early age. She discovered the discography of Camaron De la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she began her music education. 24 She completed six years of study at the academy. She began attending class at the Raval school and later moved to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Also, she was an individual singer, performing at weddings, and at musical bars. She was compensated "a little more than 80 euros" or in exchange for dinner.
